We recently replaced an electric cook top with a gas model. The installation itself was a drop-in but running the gas line resulted in this;

What’s wrong with that you ask? Well, nothing actually. The problem comes when you start doing this;

For some reason, Wifee wanted to store pots and pans in the cabinet under the cook top J fortunately, protecting the gas line is simple.

This is a piece of 3" PVC drain pipe. I took a circular saw, cut it to length and then cut a slot so it would fit over the exposed gas line, like this;

Problem solved. The PVC pipe keeps pots and pans from damaging the gas line and if you need to operate the gas valve you simply take the pipe off.
