*Mounting Equipment with Nutserts*

On occasion I need to mount a piece of equipment temporarily on a thin topped bench or a hollow top bench without having a nut or bolt protruding from the bottom so I could still access the bench drawer.

Just a case arose when I wanted to use my MEC 600 Jr Mark V. I did not want it permanently attached so I could have a larger work area available when not reloading.C-clamps are ok but they are always in the way and seem to loosen at inopportune times.

One tool for this is a Lawson Nutsert tool, which has blind inserts from sizes #6-32,8-32 & 8-24,10-32 & 10-24-1/4, 3/8, 5/16.

Center punch..............................Drill 3/8" hole for insert

Place ¼" insert over hole.....................Drive insert in with hammer

Screw adaptor into inserts...................Screw down snug

Continue until it stops....................Remove tool, finished insert

Inserts ready for bolts....................Bolt down tool

Now you can remove a bench top tool and leave only a flush thread. The Lawson insert tool can add threaded inserts into just about any material, thick or thin.
