I use my food preps everyday and I track how many portions (real life) we get out of each item.
I thought I had it all figured out until two of my adult sons came back to live while one is recovering from multiple surgeries. WOW, they sure eat a lot! I have not fed them three meals a day for a few years now and forgot how much they can put away at one sitting and meal after meal.
The red beans I canned in quart jars usually give us 5 good sized servings with added rice and no sausage. The boys get 2-3 servings and that is with added sausage!
I always test my preps but now I see that maybe I should lay some abuse on them too.
Better to find out now than later what the shortcomings are and what to
do to fix it.
