*Some problems with the M15A4*
Just thought I would let you know about some problems I had with my Armalite M15A4 Carbine. When I bought it. I had to get the removable carry handle sights. There was a 6-8 week backorder on the A2 version. I should have waited. I gave up on Colt. The U.S. Marshalls' Service has a big order in now. Colt won't confirm or deny this, which means....? Anyway, the sight unit came with National Match sights. Not great for CQB. I started trying to get the standard GI A2 setup. Armalite doesn't make one and didn't know if the standard A2 parts would fit, (new elevation and windage drums, new aperture. etc.) They also couldn't tell me what the numbers on the elevation drum corresponded to in yds/meters. There was nada on this in their manual. Instead of 300-800 markings, it has 1-15. A call to Bushmaster revealed that the Picatinny rail on the Armalite ain't to government specs, so their carry handle sight set up won't fit. A call to Colt to check on their sight set up got me a round of legalese mumbo-jumbo about how Colt could not be responsible for the use of their products on another weapon, etc., etc.. So....I just drilled out one of the apertures to 5mm, voila! Instant battle sight. Now I just have to figure out what the numbers correspond to. If you want, pass this on.
