The Basement Bugger's Bible

Many of you out there LOVE to tinker with electronics projects; I know I do. Many of us are also security minded, so if you like building TINY circuits and/or want to know who may be snooping in on your privacy, then "Shifty Bugman" custom-wrote this book for you!

I hold a Degree in Electrical Engineering so this is a subject that I scrutinize closely. I have seen these types of books come and go; most are trash for any one who needs SERIOUS information. I am a stickler for detail and reliability, so of course I tried to rip this book apart on technical details. After so many crappy books on the subject, you don't know how happy it makes me to be able to say that this is one of the most complete works on the subject of tapping devices, bugs, eavesdropping, planting bugs, surveillance and counter-surveillance on the market today. I bet the hue and cry will shortly have this book on the "most wanted" list of both sides of the security/privacy issue. More importantly BOTH sides of the debate are covered here, not only detailed instructions on how to build many listening devices, but how to protect against them! Security, safety, covert ops - it's all in here!

Chapters include:

  • The Unified Field theory (the nature of covert intercepts, mics, sensitivity etc.)
  • Audio Amplification in bugging gear
  • Getting the message OUT: Power amps
  • Directional Mics
  • Ultrasonics
  • Repeaters
  • Wiretapping
  • Counter Bugging
  • Optical Bugging
    • ...and so much more you won't believe it. When I say this is the complete work on the subject, I mean COMPLETE! Lots of pictures, circuits, schematics and diagrams. Another important part about this book is that it is technologically up-to-date. The newest chips and parts are utilized; this is NOT another rehash of old circuits.

    Well written and put together, Shifty put some thought into this book! This is another MUST for any team's electronics specialist!



    The Down Side:
    As stated above, I believe this book will quickly raise a howl from the civil liberties folks and liberals... So I am glad I have my copy already.

    Would WE Buy It?:
    A resounding YES It has so much information that I will spend MANY nights poring over it I am sure. This book is QUALITY. In college I routinely bought $150.00 textbooks that didn't have the quality print and information contained in this book for under 50 bux.

    Good clear pictures, large clear schematics, reference pages, and detailed information!
